SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS HAVE A MINIMAL IMPACT ON OUR PLANET
But maximise the impact on the way you live
LET'S START A CONVERSATION…
How can we build less, minimise energy use and maximise the efficiency of your new home?
From energy efficiency to sustainable material options, we’ll make sure you have all the information you need to make informed choices about your project and its impact on the planet.
Our architect’s sustainable values aren’t the hogwash of greenwash, it’s a pledge that we will:
-
Have an honest conversation about sustainable architecture, presenting a variety of options for you to consider
-
show you how you could be more sustainable in different areas of your build, as well as giving full details of what different elements will cost
-
Use our architectural team's expertise in design and our broad knowledge of sustainable architecture to help you get the most out of your property
-
keep an open mind and remain non-judgemental about the decisions and choices you make,
-
find the balance that works for you and the way you want to live.

SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE WITH PURPOSE
By looking for smarter design solutions and seeking ways to avoid waste at every step, we’ll make sure your property fulfils every inch of its potential.
Time spent in the early stages often focuses on unlocking the potential of an existing building, rather than knocking it down and starting again. Many existing properties are poorly insulated and we’ll find ways to minimise energy use, whilst maximising the efficiency of your property.
Using Virtual Reality (VR) architecture as part of our process helps identify any issues before your build begins, preventing wasted time and materials. From the big things to the small things, it’s all about being smarter at every stage to find better solutions for you - and for the planet.
FABRIC-FIRST APPROACH
Sustainable architecture touches every element of each design and build; it isn’t just about the materials you use, although that’s often a good starting point. Our sustainable architectural, ‘fabric-first’ approach means we’ll explain how to prioritise investing in the fabric of the building.
We’re always learning about new and alternative building methods and fabric options and how they can work to improve your home. So we’ll present options on eco materials as standard as part of our realisation of your brief.

KEEPING OUR HOUSE IN ORDER
From sourcing greener stationery to encouraging staff to cycle or walk to work, we set up processes across the business to find ways to be cleaner, greener and more energy efficient.
In practice this means things like:
- being particular where we buy from, buying local if possible including good local coffee and loose refillable tea
- using green stationery such as recycled notebooks and paper and refillable pens
- purchasing refurbished computers and IT equipment
- trying to mend before buying new
- cooking team meals that are organic veggie and 95% of the time, vegan
- supporting team members in making sustainable choices outside of work
- regular team days that involve getting out in nature and a weekly greenhour to discuss and share how we’re making mindful choices.
- banking with an ethical bank
SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTS SUPPORTING ENVIRONMENTAL CAUSES
Using the Ecologi platform, we help fund climate positive projects and tree planting. We are also project sponsors of Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Seaquest Southwest. Seaquest Southwest is a citizen science marine recording project. One of our favourite parts about the project is the dedication to educating and engaging people with the marine environment through public events, surveys and activities.
Living and working by the sea, we see its wonders every day and want to help protect it for the future. That’s why we’re also a Surfer’s Against Sewage Ocean network member, committed to helping protect the UK’s unique coastal environment through SAS’s main campaigning priorities: water quality, plastic pollution, climate change and ocean recovery.
